Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I pay for a design from an independent kitchen designer?

Unlike kitchen retailers, we do not sell kitchens, appliances or worktops. Our only focus is creating the best possible design for your space.

As an independent designer, we provide completely unbiased advice based on your requirements, budget and lifestyle rather than trying to sell a particular product or brand.

You have the opportunity to be fully involved in the design process, exploring different layouts, styles and ideas with an experienced designer. The finished design belongs to you and can be used to obtain quotations from multiple suppliers, helping you compare

prices and make informed decisions.

Our detailed plans also provide valuable information for builders, electricians, plumbers and installers.

How much will a kitchen designed by Kitchen Plans cost?

We can design kitchens to suit virtually any budget, from simple starter kitchens to high-end bespoke projects.

To achieve the best result, it is important that you let us know your budget from the outset. This allows us to design a kitchen that is both practical and realistic for your project.

As a guide:

Budget kitchens using suppliers such as IKEA, B&Q or local manufacturers can start from under €5,000.

Mid-range kitchens typically range from €10,000 to €20,000.

Large kitchens with islands, premium appliances and stone worktops often range from €20,000 to €40,000 or more.

Our role is to help you achieve the best value for your investment and make informed decisions about where your budget is best

spent.

Does the entire kitchen need to come from one supplier?

No.

One of the advantages of an independent design service is that you are free to source products from whichever suppliers offer the best quality, value and service.

In many projects, cabinetry, appliances, worktops and specialist features are supplied by different companies. This often results in better choice and better value than purchasing everything from a single supplier.

Sometimes you may have family member or a local cabinetmaker who does not have a design service who will source the kitchen & install it for you potentially saving you a lot in the overall cost of a fitted furniture fitout.

Do you provide home visits?

Yes.

We offer a Home Consultation Service primarily within the Cork area.

This optional service includes a detailed on-site consultation, full room measurements and a discussion of your requirements, ideas and priorities. It is particularly beneficial for complex layouts, renovation projects or spaces that require professional assessment

before the design process begins.

Additional travel charges may apply for locations outside the Cork area.

Can you order my kitchen for me?

No.

Kitchen Plans is a design-only service and does not sell or supply kitchens.

All orders should be placed directly with your chosen supplier, who will also be responsible for carrying out their own site measurements before manufacturing or ordering products.

Should significant changes occur during building works, we can revise the design once final dimensions have been confirmed.

Do you take responsibility for supplying or fitting the kitchen?

No.

Any agreement for the supply, manufacture or installation of your kitchen is made directly between you and your chosen supplier or contractor.

Our role is to provide independent design expertise and help you make informed decisions based on your requirements rather than a supplier's sales targets.

We work with a number of reputable kitchen suppliers throughout Ireland and may be able to recommend companies in your area. However, the final choice of supplier remains entirely yours.

What happens if I don't like the first design?

We take considerable time to understand your requirements, preferences and lifestyle before beginning the design process, so

this situation is uncommon.

However, design is a collaborative process, and we understand that seeing ideas brought to life can sometimes lead to new thoughts or changes of direction.

Your design package includes one round of revisions, allowing you to request as many changes as necessary following presentation of the initial concept. These amendments are included at no additional cost.

Our goal is to ensure you are completely satisfied with the final design before the project moves forward.

Do you only design kitchens?

No.

In addition to kitchens, we regularly design:

Utility Rooms, Pantries, Boot Rooms, Bedrooms. Walk-In Wardrobes, Bathrooms, Home Offices & Media Walls

Many clients choose to have multiple rooms designed as part of the same project, ensuring a cohesive look and feel throughout their home.

Can I use your designs with any kitchen supplier?

Yes.

All designs produced by Kitchen Plans belong to you and can be taken to any kitchen supplier, manufacturer or installer for pricing.

This gives you the freedom to compare quotations, products and service levels before making a final purchasing decision.

What information do I need to get started?

For our Online Design Service, we ideally require:

  • Full detailed room sizes if it is an existing space being redesigned
  • Your Wishlist, ideas and requirements
  • A list of appliances you intend to use
  • Inspiration images or examples of styles you like
  • Photos or videos of existing spaces where applicable

The more information you can provide, the more accurately we can tailor the design to your needs.
